New helmet today to replace the cheap and nasty one i had been using. I also ordered a new pair of shoes to go with the new pedals. Cant wait till the forks get here. I will take the new frame and the forks down to be sandblasted and re painted. Steel is real baby:) I am going to paint the frame celeste to match the forks. I am eyeing of some new campag bits to build up the bike. The new frame is going to be a dedicated road weapon but i am thinking of getting a bit more experimental with the old frame and going for a set of bull horns and turning it into a long training session bike. I live near a good long ride along an old disused highway so i should be able to work up to centuries on the weekends. I will be building the bike with both comfort and rideability in mind. I have to have confidence in it if i am going on long rides out of civillisation.

getting there
Well we are in the new place, Havent ridden the treadly because they are both buried under mountains of boxes. Cant wait to try out the velodrome across the road though. Tomorrows mission is get the bikes out and active. In the mean time ive bee spending up on ebay. Ive got a new roady frame coming to replace the old malvern star and a couple of sets of new forks (Bianchi of course). Ive also got some new clipless pedals on the way (Wellgo) to replace the time ones im currently using. Ive never gotten used to these time pedals and there are an old style now.

I have a terrible terrible terrible confession to make.................................................................
I don't like fixed gear bikes. There I said it its out in the open now. The closet door is open, I think i need a hug.
I also don't like sitting on an exercise bike in front of the tv. Unfortunately that's what i'll be doing tonight. At least im gonna watch an old tour dvd while doing it.

Didn't ride or walk yesterday. I've been cleaning the house in preparation for the move . I got enthusiastic yesterday and cleaned the oven. Something in the fumes from the cleaner has knocked me for six. I feel like i just cant get enough oxygen into my lungs. Hopefully I'll feel a little better tonight. I ordered the sidelights reflective rim stuff yesterday, enough for a couple of bikes so I cant wait till that gets here. The dilemma of pedal choice continues as well.

Took the TREK out last night for a pedal. I really need to pay attention to its gears. It's not selecting cleanly. I might even treat it to a full service. The new house I just bought is right next to my best local bike shop and i move in on Tuesday. I really need to invest in some decent front lights. Last night was a shocker. Every time a car came towards me i was blinded. Felt good to be on the bike again. I've missed this way to much. A bit of wrist pain but I'll get there, just need more riding ;)

Dug the bike out today and trundled down to the local bike shop to look at cartridge pumps. I hesitantly paid out my $50 for a pump and some cartridges (I am a tight arse). Took my purchases home and tried it out on the roady. WOW wish i had bought one of these earlier. Very impressed with the result. Now ive just got to dig out the rest of my riding gear and see if any of it still fits. Guess its going to be walking for exercise again tonight.

Wow, first post on what I hope will be a continuing saga. I am not known for my consistency. This space is all about bikes. I currently have two a TREK mountain bike and a road bike that I've salvaged. The TREK was first on the scene to help in gaining a bit of fitness and some weight loss. I used this bike the most at my last house in Mount Isa. It was great for the rides out to the lake and back. This was my release for months and months and saw me getting buff and feeling great. I started to build up the road bike from a Malvern Star frame bought for the princely sum of $15. I threw out all the suntour crap attached to it and re built it using modern Campag componentry sourced from fleabay.
Well all good things cant last and I busted myself up good. I came of a high fence one night at work and landed on my wrist, 8 feet below where i started. This managed to smash the end off both my radius and ulna and to pulverise my wrist dislocating my hand up along my arm. I also fractured my tail bone. Ouch
Gallons of pethadine and months of rehab later i have a wrist that works within limits but gives me constant grief. Thankfully I avoided the metal plates through a skilled surgeon.
Well I am starting to get back on the bikes again and now that ive moved back to civillisation in SE Qld I am motivated to get rid of the couch lard and get some kms under me.
